Territory Acknowledgement

We recognise that the sacred land on which the Almonte Learning Garden is located is the ancestral and unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation. We are grateful to the Algonquin ancestors who cared for the land and water.

We believe that children have a right to feel affirmed and supported. Each child is an individual coming from a long line of cultural and racialized experiences. We understand that the children we work with are exploring the interpersonal world around them as well as the physical world. It is our promise to encourage our students to embrace diversity and act with empathy, to remind them that they can choose love over discord, and to do our very best to model a caring, open minded, empathetic approach to engagement with others.

Environmental Impact

The Almonte Learning Garden pledges to operate with as small an environmental footprint as possible. We hope to foster environmental stewardship and a sense of bio-interdependence in all the children who attend our program.
